Casa Lapostolle
Color: Intense and dark, inky purple with deep purple shades.
Nose: Powerful, rich aromas of jammy red and black fruits and berries. Meaty qualities of bacon fat balanced against spice & floral qualities towards the end with framing notes of nutmeg and vanilla from the well integrated oak. Overall, very complex and attractive.
Palate: Concentrated & very well balanced with soft, velvety tannins lingering in the mouth. Very rich mid palate and a long finish. Goes very well with rich red meat such as lamb, beef and wild boar.
Wine Enthusiast
Immediately pleasurable, with luscious aromas of ripe fruits and savory oak. This winery is getting very good results from its high-end Syrah, as evidenced by this jammy, dark wine that's charred, toasty and loaded with the essentials. Drink now or hold for a couple of years.

Wine Spectator
A solid, well-put together Syrah, with dark loam, currant, tar and cocoa flavors backed by ample structure and flesh. Nice, rich finish. Needs short-term cellaring to stretch out fully. Best from 2007 through 2009.

Wine Advocate
The 2004 Syrah "Cuvee Alexandre - Las Kuras Vineyard" is a purple-colored wine with an excellent nose of smoke, bacon and blueberry. On the palate the fruit is sweet, ripe, and supple with plenty of layered flavors. It has very good depth and a pure, lengthy finish. There is enough structure for several years of evolution. Drink it through 2020.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
